Before it became synonymous with pictures shared on social media, meme was a term coined by Richard Dawkins to describe the way in which ideas replicate and spread similar to genes.

When used in this wiki meme will refer to a particular idea and the way in which it is remembered and spread to others by our brains. It does not refer to "Bad Luck Brian" or any of his ilk.
